
For people that have their roots in India, whether from Canada, Guyana, Surinam, Fiji, Trinidad, Africa etc, learning Hindi is not only about being familiarised with a language it is about identifying with a culture. It is about social practices and building relationships within a community.
In Guyana, Vaishali Panwar gained experience teaching non Hindi speaking people of Indian origin the language. She has thereby initiated and implemented the adult conversational program for ages 13 and above. This class explains basic formulas of the language that will help students to acquire conversational skills.
She has also designed an elementary Hindi program for children that will start with recognition of vowels and consonants, word formation and sentence building. The fundamental Hindi lesson plans and structured visual activities are given to enhance vocabulary, reading, writing and speaking skills.
The Hindi program generally covers the following topics:
